European market

The European Market will be held on Saturday, September 22nd 2018, from 14.30 to 16.30, in the grounds of Acres Hall/Town Hall.  The offices of the Municipal District of Tullamore are located in Acres Hall, Cormac Street, a five bay two storey over basement building with a limestone ashlar facade.  It is so-named after it’s builder Thomas Acres.  The building was built in 1786 as a private residence.  Acres was the town’s leading property developer over a 50-year period until his death in 1837.  Acres Hall may have been the first house to go up in Cormac Street. The building was renovated and converted to the Town Hall in the early 1990’s by the local council and houses a fine chamber room which is used for council and other meetings.  It was the base for the celebrations of the town’s gold success in Entente Florale in 2016.

There is ample space in the grounds of the Hall to accommodate up to 20 stalls.  There is also the option to move the market indoors if the weather is not favourable for an outdoor market.

The European Market is a perfect opportunity for your municipality to present to all delegates the best of what you have to offer.  It is also an opportunity for you to sample the delights of your fellow delegates.  We look forward to the hosting of every municipality represented at the Entente Florale Awards, at the European Market.  We hope you will all enjoy the atmosphere of fun, music and aromas!

Electricty and refridgeration will be available to all participants.  Your goods can be transported in advance to:  Municipal District of Tullamore, Town Hall, Cormac Street, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.  Alternatively, we can arrange for their collection from you when you arrive in Tullamore.  Please contact us at ententefloraleawards@offalycoco.ie  for further information or assistance.
